IRC - Alone Boys Can't Change The Future
Afghan girls fear for their education.
In July, the International Rescue Committee talked with school girls in Afghanistan about their fears for the future, and hopes of getting an education despite the country’s turmoil and repeated threats of violence. Since these interviews, the Afghan government has been ousted from Kabul and U.S. military and coalition forces have withdrawn. Though there have been claims that girls will still be able to attend school, the future of their education hangs in the balance.
Concepts are so important to me. They help me to focus on the message and the speaker, rather than my own style. This film is filled with moments where the colors dissolve into inky, watery blurs. A way of visualizing when something had been withheld — the right to an education and the future these girls dream of. This style was created with 2D animation in Photoshop and compositing in After Effects.
